What is 3D CBCT?
With 3D Cone Beam CT scan, various areas can be studied separately, from several directions, without superimposition. As opposed to traditional X-ray images, there is no distortion here and due to the 1:1 ratio of the images, precise measurements can be made. We can generate layer images, so called “slices” of the area of interest, which can also be reconstructed in 3D. In addition, we can obtain information not only of the quantity, but also of the quality of the bone.
What are the unique features of this equipment?
As a special feature, our scanner not only produces razor-sharp images with uncompromised diagnostic visibility, but its scan field has a unique reuleaux triangle shape instead of the typical cylindrical form. Due to the shape of the field of view, irrelevant areas outside the jaw are excluded from scanning, thus reducing the already minimal radiation dose by a further 10-12%.
How much is the radiation dose?
By using traditional CT scans, patients were exposed to significant radiation. In contrast, by using Cone Beam CT, radiation dose drops to the 1% of this value, which is the magnitude of radiation exposure in traditional imaging procedures.
